– BOI is concentrating on having BOI events up and running.
– The current Directors Newsletter has a lot of Slet information in it, i.e., picking up packets, having coaches know what they are picking up, etc.
– There will be meetings every morning to go over the day’s activities, noting any changes or updates. Coaches should be available every morning for this update.
– Sis. B. Vondra will be talking to Sis. M. Fiordelis about setting up volunteers and other details.
– Sis. B. Vondra will be sending out the competition rotations to all coaches.
– All judges are in place.
– If coaches will be arriving late, they should make other arrangements to have their information picked up and let Sis. B. Vondra know who that designated person is.
– Thursday morning competitions will be for higher level boys, junior boys and men and all Level 4 girls, juniors and women. In the afternoon, one session will be Masters I and II, Novice and Levels 1-3 and running at the same time will be Levels 5-8. Warm-ups will be prior to competition on each apparatus.
– On Saturday morning, there will be one session with all little boys and two sessions of girls, Novice and Level 1, and Level 2 and 3, both age groups together. Warm-ups will be in the first hour and then competition.
– All awards will be given right after competitions.
– Juniors all do women’s cal part. Anybody competing in Women’s Masters I or II does the Senior II cal. Novice and Levels 1-8 do women’s cal. Men 50+ do the Senior II cal.

Opening Ceremonies
– The program is 1.5 hours long. There will be a 15-minute pre-show.
– Each Unit or USAG club will be expected to provide one representative for a parade-type presentation. That participant will need to attend a rehearsal for about 15 minutes at 6:30 p.m. just before the show (doors open at 6:45 p.m.). That participant should wear the outfit of their choice representing their unit or club and should have a cowboy hat decorated to represent their unit or club and their participation in the Ft. Worth event.
– There is a nice variety of numbers to present.

– There are approximately 900 participant cards sold and 40 all-access spectator passes. Some people are buying them directly through the web site.
– Almost all entries are complete. Working with the pictures that were submitted created a huge task.

2010 National Instructor School Bid Award
– A letter is being prepred to be sent out.
– A meeting was held on 6/7/09. Bids were reviewed from the Central District and from the Northeastern District. The committee would like to have a course in the Central District; however, at this point, there were too many unanswered questions and concerns with Central District being the host, so the bid was accepted from the Northeastern District. The concern with Central District was that, due to an unfamiliarity of course needs, the people who submitted the bid did not anticipate the questions raised.
– The National School Board is going to work up some better guidelines for submitting bids. There will be a training session at the Directors Conference.
– Central District provided all requirements for bid except for submitting a video. Certain questions could not be answered by Central District. A letter will be sent to Central District with explanations.
– Instructors School will take place July 11 to July 25, 2010.
National Instructor School Staff Training
– Sis. M. Cushing has not received many responses back.
– Flyers will go out after Slet for interested parties.
Summer Traveling Camps
– Central District Traveling Summer Camp will be held at Sokol Spirit, June 12-14, 2009.
– Camp staff met for a third time last night, 6/9/09, and finalized their schedule of activities from their plans.
– There are 28 campers registered.
– Eastern District is still working on getting a date for a camp.
Weekend Instructor Schools
– Sokol Cedar Rapids will be unable to schedule a school due to renovations currently going on at their gym.
Merit Award
– A Merit Award meeting was held yesterday, 6/9/09. Sis. B. Kucera sent a report of the meeting.
– There were requests for 10 applications; 8 were returned and considered for the award. Only 3 met the standards to receive the award.
– The winners are Ann Marie Suchanek from Sokol New York, Eastern District; Ryan Briedenbach, Sokol St. Louis, Central District; and Alexandra Zahrobsky, Sokol Spirit, Central District. Notification letters will be sent out after approval from the Executive Board.
– After recipients are notified, photos and essays will be sent to the publication.
– Per Br. Pajer’s request, reviewed minimum criteria for receiving a merit award will be reviewed.
– Discussed including a checklist for applicants to make sure the applicant includes all of their Sokol merits, since the award weighs heavily on what they have done with Sokol.
MOTION made by Br. T. Pajer to approve the merit award selections, seconded by Br. B. Kucera and passed.
